Walter was telling me this morning how Delight got her name. Their daddy named her Delight because she was a "DELIGHT TO THE EYE" But as we all got to know her she became a "DELIGHT TO THE HEART" as well as a "DELIGHT TO THE EYE"

She will remain in our hearts forever.....

We will miss her.....

I look forward to seeing her again one day.....

Delight has taken a turn for the worse. Breathing is SO difficult for her. She is only just seeing her close family now.

Pray for God's Peace & Mercy for this family during this difficult time.

:Friday Night @ 10:15 PM

My computer shows the time of posting erroneously and I don't want to fool with figuring out how to change so I'll just type it in as I just did. Last night was pretty restless for us. Delight kept waking up afraid and a little panicky. I think the pain meds, her difficulty breathing, and the length of her stay here probably all contribute to that. Anyway, we didn't get much sleep so she has been pretty tired today. I am really concerned about her breathing. She seems to struggle a little more with it each day. She has so much congestion, rattling, and wheezing. Sometimes the breathing treatments help and sometimes they don't. I know both Dr. Mirtsching and Dr. Shulkin are aware and are doing all they know to do. Delight got up and sat in the chair for an hour or so today and tried to do some physical therapy but was just too weak. They were going to try to get her to walk with a walker and assistance just to the door (about 10 steps) but she only made about 2 very short steps and had to sit down. She is so weak that just getting her out of the bed, it takes the nurse and one assistant to do it, completely wears her out. As Charmyrle mentioned to Kay, the Doctors are considering giving her a blood transfusion tomorrow to boost her white blood cell and platelet counts as well as to hopefully boost her energy. She is still not able to eat anything. Today her sister made her a chocolate milkshake and she drank a little of that and maybe ate 5 or 6 potato chips. Yesterday she had one small piece of cheese and a couple of potato chips. I know she is aware of the importance of trying to get some nutrition but she just has no appetite. Hopefully the IV nutrition will boost her strength and if they do the blood transfusion that will help also. Dr. Mirtsching again said that the x-rays of her lungs are not looking any better but also that they are not looking any worse. At least we're not losing ground there. On a positive note the fluid from her left lung seems to be gradually slowing down. Not as rapidly as they would like but anything that is happening in a positive direction is good news. Jennifer, Blu, Charmyrle, and Windell are all here. Jen and Blu are staying at the hospital tonight and the rest of us are going to the motel. Charlie and Windell left about 9:00 and I will shortly if Delight is resting OK. Jen will call me if anything goes wrong. I trust Jen a great deal and so does her mom. Oh, Delight's foot is much better. Glad that was caught quickly as cellulitis can be quite serious if it gets a good headstart. Every time I post I hope I have the presence of mind to thank everyone, even if my thank you's get monotonous. There are so many people praying, thinking, and tugging for Delight that I'm uncomfortable singling out anyone. We both appreciate all of you and miss all of you a lot! I will try to post something over the weekend if possible. I'm still a little uncomfortable doing this but reading your comments about it meaning something to you makes it easier. I have read Gail's message to Delight several times as did Kaye. I know that comforted her.

2:15 FRIDAY AFTERNOON

I just talked to Charmyrle and she said Delight was about the same. She just had a breathing treatment. She said that Terry Joe said her foot is much better than it was yesterday. Charmyrle said they got the nutrition drip started. They want her to sit in the chair. The doctor is thinking she may have to have blood or platelets because her white blood count is so low.

Dr. Mirtsching Just In

Well, it seems Delight has cellulitis in her left foot. It is an infection caused by a Staph bacterium. Her foot just started swelling suddenly today with redness and heat. The Dr. didn't seem happy about it but also didn't seem overly alarmed. He said her white blood cell count was really low and he may have postponed chemo under normal conditions but with the cancer being active he didn't feel he had the option to wait. He said the x-rays of Delight's lungs that were taken this morning did not look any better but they didn't look any worse either. The fluid draining from her left lung has slowed down some over the last 24 hours and that is a good sign. It was 475 mL where it has been running 600 to 800 mL. He said he was going to start Delight back on IV antibiotics (Vancomycin) for the infection in her foot. He also mentioned we should limit visitation to maybe a 2 hour time frame some time during the day and be extra cautious that any visitors sterilize their hands before entering and when leaving the room. He said she is very vulnerable to all types of infections right now due to her low blood count. He also said she needed all the rest she could get. (Almost impossible in this place) Next time Delight is awake and alert I will visit with her and see just how much visiting she is comfortable with. The ultimate goal here is to get this girl back on her feet. I will post if there are changes or recommendations on visitation. I know everybody wants what is best for Delight so I will try to keep you informed, or Kaye will. Oh, almost forgot, thanks Kaye and Tonya and sorry I almost snored you out of the waiting room. I almost had Bobby and John convinced I had quit until they heard your story. Bob , Kathy, John, and Sheila came by. Sheila and Delight had quite a nice nap together. She won't admit it but I think Sheila was snoring! Thanks John and Bob for dinner. Really enjoyed seeing y'all. A very nice lady from Beth Ann's church came by today and said a really nice prayer with us and gave Delight spiritual encouragement. Also, Jennifer's cousin Stacy came by and prayed with Delight. We so appreciate all of the prayers. Jennifer and Blu are coming tomorrow. I think Delight's sister Charlie and her husband Windell are coming tomorrow or Saturday. Delight got a large kick out of the poem from the tellers. I read it and think you girls need to give Gail a break! You hang in there Gail and don't let them mistreat you! I know Delight missed all of you a bunch and is really looking forward to getting well and getting back to work. Hello to all my friends at school. Thanks to all of you, again. I miss you guys and wish I could be there to help "get the ball rolling". Hopefully it won't be too long before I see all of you. Please continue to pray for Delight and love to all. p.s. In case you were wondering I do this when Delight is sleeping and sometimes have to do a lot of starting/stopping so if some of this is incoherent I hope you will overlook it.

1:00 THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Delight had her chemo treatment this morning and she slept during most of it. They gave it to her while she was in bed. It was only 20 minutes long. Tonya is sitting with her now. Terry Joe is out here with me in the waiting room eating a sandwich Tonya & I brought him. He said that they gave her some pain medicine after they did the treatment and so she is sleeping now. She is still so very weak. She was completely exhausted from getting out of the chair, sitting a while, getting back into bed. I'm sure it is from no food intake for so long. I don't think they have started the food--nutrient IV. Terry Joe said that he needed to check and see when they are going to start it. He thought maybe they would after the chemo. So maybe they will shortly. They gave her something for nausea before they started the chemo. I think that's it for now. Terry Joe ran to the car to get some of his dirty clothes. I'll post again before we leave.

9:30 THURSDAY

I have just come out of Delight's room. She talked quite a bit. She ate a couple of bites of eggs. She looks a lot better today. She was sitting up in a chair when I went in. After an hour she was ready to get back in bed. While I was sitting with Delight....Terry Joe went to the cafeteria to eat. He's back in there now. Tonya is going back shortly. She is supposed to get her chemo this afternoon. I will post again after while.

4:00am THURSDAY MORNING

My shift is just now over. I have been in Delight's room since about 12:15. Tonya is back with her now. They had just came in to do an xray. Terry Joe is asleep (snoring loudly) on the couch. Delight has been sleeping fairly. Her vitals have been good. Her pressure was 109/85 when I left. She is a lot more alert today than she was on Friday. The nurse came in at 2:10am and wanted to give her a sponge bath....she looked at the nurse and said now??? And the nurse nodded her head yes and Delight said softly not right now. When she left I just busted out laughing and Delight just shook her head. She has been in a couple of times changing IV bags. I have spent most of the night watching Delight try to sleep and trying to figure out what the building was I was looking at out the window. People are still in the waiting room moving around. oops I think they woke up Terry Joe. No...the snoring has started back. I will post again later this morning.

Dr. Shulkin just came in

Dr. Shulkin came in about an hour ago. It's 1:00 A.M. now. He asked her a lot of questions about her appetite, how she was feeling, etc. He said he was going to order some nutrition to be given through her IV beginning tomorrow to try and boost her energy level. He said since she was already being given some fluids intravenously he may as well add some carbs and amino acids. He thinks her appetite may return when her energy level is boosted by physical therapy and IV nutrients. She is getting a little agitated with me about my nagging trying to get her to eat. She told Tonya to get the nurse to take away her dinner tray before her husband gets back and tries to make me eat more. I was talking to Walter around lunch today, I thought Delight was asleep, and I asked him if he wanted to go get some lunch that I was fine staying in the room. Delight said eat, eat, eat, that's all TJ wants to talk about. I guess I will lighten up but after the visit with Dr. Mirtsching this morning and his strong emphasis on how important it is for her I just have a hard time not pushing. Vicky Young, if you are reading this you can come by here any time you want to. There are times when Delight does not feel like visiting, but that is so unpredictable that you may just have to "roll the dice". It is looking like we may be here for several more days/weeks? I just don't know. Anyway, the weekends seems to be when we have the biggest influx of compay so maybe a weekday would be best. I just know she loves you. I know I have mentioned food and eating several times in this and recent posts, but please do me a favor and don't be insulted by my asking but don't bring or send any food. We have a considerable stockpile of snacks, etc. in the room and the nurse has had me bag it in plastic bags and hide it in the corner so I wouldn't get her in trouble with her boss. We are not supposed to take food or drink into ICU and they have been pretty liberal about allowing us to (sneak things in) I was just afraid you might read this and feel compelled to send food but trust me, we have access to lots of good stuff, just waiting on my girl to get an appetite for it. Hopefully soon! Once again we absolutely can't thank you all enough for your prayers, concern, and just everything. If someone sees Phil Bullock, the 2nd best night fisherman in the county, tell him thanks for mowing my yard for me. (I don't know whether he sees this blog or not and hopefully with this big ol" moon he is fishing some) Come to think of it if you haven't been in the middle of Broken Bow Lake around 2:00AM on a moonlit night you should make an effort to do so. It can be an awesome sight/feeling. Sorry, I started daydreaming and got way off course. Please continue to pray for Delight and for his healing hands to touch her and allow me to bring her home soon. Love to All

11:45 WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Well it's about 11:30 and Tonya & I are in the waiting room. Terry Joe is back in with Delight. We are supposed to rotate out with him. We stayed in the room for quite a while. She did not eat the peanuts that Terry Joe went and got her. She talked quite a bit. We were telling her messages that everyone told us to tell her. Tellers we read her the poem. She smiled and said those girls. I told her that yall loved her and she said to tell you that she loved you, too. She seemed to feel a little better. She did tell me she was so tired. She also was wondering when she was going to get better. We told her we know she is tired...she would be getting better really soon. I know that her breathing is not as labored as it was. That was good to see. Her checks are pink and her color looks better than it did on Friday. She did get scared/panicked while we were in with her. She wanted Terry Joe. Tonya came to the waiting room to get him and he hurried to her room. She settled down pretty quickly. She wanted some pain medicine soon after that. They gave her some and Terry Joe told me that he would sit with her for a while. I am patiently waiting for his call. I wish I could show you what Tonya is doing. She has her a bed (with sheets) on the couch. I don't think she is asleep but her eyes are shut. It has been a trip in this waiting room tonight. People are still coming in at this hour! I will post again if I get to go back and stay with her.

8:45 WEDNESDAY

Tonya is back with her...Terry Joe just came out. He said the doctor told her this morning that she had to eat. He has gone to find her some peanuts. He said he is having a hard hard time getting her to eat. Nothing seems to sound good to her. He doesn't know what to do to get her to eat. When he gets back I will go back. I will post as soon as I can. Maybe Terry Joe will post when I go back. I will leave the computer out in the waiting room with him. I'll be back soon.

6:30 WEDNESDAY

I have been been in Delight's room briefly. Terry Joe told me that she was one tired girl. Delight said she had a lot of company today. They just gave her some pain medicine. She was sleepy, so I went back to the waiting room. They are not supposed to have visitors between 6:00-8:30. We are not going back in until 8:30 so she can rest for a while. I will not post again until then.

10:15 WEDNESDAY

I just talked to Darlene and she said that Delight had a pretty restful night. She and Walter stayed with her last night. Terry Joe went to the motel to get some rest.
Delight was wanting some cream of wheat this morning so they were working on getting her that. Darlene said that her vitals were good. Her pressure was 114/68 at about 8:30 this morning. Walter had a flat this morning on his pickup and was at the tire shop getting it fixed. Tonya & I will be going to Dallas this afternoon and staying the night. I will be posting again when we get there.

Just Talked to Dr. Mirtsching

Dr. Mirtsching was just in so I thought I would post this while Delight is sleeping. He said her blood pressure and blood work were all looking good. He also said that her liver function was currently OK and that is a relief. The antibiotics have cleared up the bacterial infection but with no competition from the bacteria a fungal infection has developed in her urinary tract. He said they would treat that with Difluxin, an anti-fungal agent, and did not seemed too concerned nor surprised by this development. He said the main concern to he and Dr. Shulkin at this time was the fact her chest x-rays still are not showing improvement. Her left lung has drained 250 mL over the past 8 hours and her right lung, the one they did the talc surgery on, is still showing considerable areas of either effusion (fluid buildup) or possibly tumor enlargement. He said that no response from the chemo after only 5 days is not unusual. He also said they were hoping to see a response by now but that it could, and has in other cases, taken longer and that we should continue with our chosen course of treatment for the time being. He said if her strength and vital signs allow and their are no further complications they would give the Navelbine (chemo) treatment this Thursday. He finished by saying she will most likely be in ICU for at least several more days and her transferral to a regular room would depend on how soon she regains some strength and better stability. He reassured me that he was not giving up and that we needed to continue our prayers. I haven't been able to give Delight the cards everyone sent from the bank but I will as soon as she is awake and up to it. Jennifer said she got tired yesterday just looking at one little packet of pictures of Baby Ava. Anyway, I know she will be very happy to get them and I will read each one to her. Brian, thanks for the OU news and the football magazines. Oh, and congrats on Long Drive, while the cats away the mice played! I think I could've taken you out! Thought you might need a good laugh! Mike and Cindy Williams came by just a while ago. Cindy stayed with Delight while Mike and I went downstairs for a burger. Thanks, I enjoyed visiting with Mike and I'm sure Delight enjoyed your company even though she didn't feel like talking much. If my sister is reading I Love YOu! Sorry we didn't get to visit more and sorry I was lousy company while you were here, I'll do better next time. 3:15 TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Cindy & Mike made it to the hospital. When they got to the room Delight was sitting up in the chair with her eyes closed. Cindy said she talked some but not a whole lot. Terry Joe & Mike had gone to go eat in the cafeteria. They ran Cindy out of the room while they changed a couple of bandages, got her back in bed and do a couple more things. Cindy was to go back in 30 minutes. She called Tonya while she was waiting.

11:30 TUESDAY

Terry Joe called a little while ago and he sure did sound tired. He said as soon as he gets a chance he will post again. He also wanted to tell everyone if you call him and he doesn't answer his phone....don't panic. It's hard for him to answer if he is in the room with Delight and she is sleeping. He is hoping to catch the doctor today and talk with him. He said that Delight slept last night from 12:00-4:00 this morning. Her back is bothering her and she is still having a little trouble breathing. She is doing breathing treatments pretty often. Terry Joe also said that she is worried because she is not getting better. She wants to be up and about so bad.

Mike & Cindy Williams will be going to see them early afternoon. Mike had a doctors appointment in Dallas not to far from the hospital. Cindy is going to stay with Delight so Terry Joe can get out for a while. Walter and Darlene are going this afternoon and spend the night. Maybe Terry Joe can get a little sleep tonight.

Maybe Terry Joe will post later today so we can stay updated. I'm not going to call because I know that his phone is ringing off the wall.

Darlene talked to Jennifer a little while ago and said that Delight was very tired & weak. Delight is also disappointed that she is not going to get out of ICU today. She is tired of the hospital and is ready to come home. She had a panic attack about 7:00am this morning but she is calmed down a little now. Her vital signs are good this morning. Her pressure is 106/70. She is resting now.

A Talk with Delight

I couldn't help myself. I know T.J. and Delight have been swamped with calls and visitors, but I just had to call T.J. tonight to see how she was doing. After we spoke a while, Delight got on the phone to talk. Wow! A familiar voice never sounded so sweet....and so strong! Delight has been through a lot in the last week, but she sounded like her old self again.

SUNDAY MORNING

I called Charmyrle this morning around 9:00am to check on Delight and she asked if I wanted to talk to her!! Delight told me that she just finished eating her breakfast (ham omelet) and drinking her coffee & juice. You could really tell that she was struggling to breathe. She said a couple more things and I told her it was good to talk to her and I told her to hand the phone back to Charmyrle... I hated for her to waste her breath talking to me. Her being able to talk to me is really hard for me to believe. I'm glad she is improving. I ask Charmyrle if they had to drain the lung again, she said that at 10:30 last night they put a drain tube in and she is breathing much better since they did that. Terry Joe had gone to eat breakfast in the cafeteria.

SATURDAY MORNING

I have talked with Johnice twice this morning. The first time she was telling me that she had to have her lung drained again around 12:00am. The doctor is talking about putting a drain tube in her chest to keep that drained all the time. Johnice had sat with her for several hours while the others tried to get some rest.

Then around 10:45 she called back and said Delight was talking a little and was sitting up in the chair. WHAT A CHANGE FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE. She had also had a little breakfast, juice and milk. Delight is sure a fighter. She is not going to give up....I just kept asking Johnice..really? really? she is? From seeing her the night before it was SO hard to believe.

Keep those prayers going her way. She is depending on them.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Tonya & I did not get back in to see Delight until 8:30pm Friday night. She had just got some pain medicine and she was sleeping. The only time she would barely open her eyes was when she coughed. The coughing would make head hurt. She told us in a soft whisper "Hi girls" and she wanted to know what time it was. We told her and she said "we better get home" We told her we were grown and we could stay out as late as we wanted and she just nodded. She looked the worse that we had seen her look. Her vitals were all still really good. Her pressure was all most perfect. She still was nauseated and the were trying to keep that under control with medicine. She was VERY weak. She would hardly open her eyes. We got her to eat 1/2 of a cherry Popsicle. Her mouth was so dry she kept saying. She would want us to pray for her. She did sleep or doze off more that she was awake. As a matter of fact she was hardly awake the hour and fifteen minutes we were with her. We both thought she was a lot worse Friday than she was on Tuesday. It was hard to leave the hospital wondering if she would make it through the night. We had gone to possibly spend the night but Jennifer, Blu, Johnice and Terry Joe had everything under control. We left for Idabel around 10:00pm. I just have to tell this on Tonya because it was our only laugh of the evening. As everyone knows when you see someone you love going through so much pain it is almost unbearable. We got very upset seeing her like that. Tonya got so upset that it caused her to get nauseated. Okay I told her...I just left one sick friend and I have to deal with another??? So if you are in Medical City parking lot watch where you step.

Delight woke up and was hurting and she wanted Terry Joe so we called him and they came back as soon as they could. Tonya & I are in the waiting room now. Vicky & Andrea I gave her your messages. They just gave her something for nausea. She is not feeling good. She told us that she does not like this (being sick) Riley & Reesha just got here. They are back with her now.

2:35 FRIDAY

Its about 2:35 and we are back in the room with Delight. They just had to give her pain medicine. When she coughs her head hurts so bad that she cries. She is sleeping now. Johnice & Terry Joe went to go get something to eat. Before Delight got her pain medicine she ate 1/2 of a Popsicle. She said her mouth gets so dry. Andrea I dont know of anything they need. I will tell Terry Joe when he gets back. Walter & Darlene left a little while ago. She has a really kind nurse today. Vicky I will tell her when she wakes up next time. Her breathing is still labored.

DELIGHT'S ROOM

We are in Delight's room. Her vitals are good. She talked to us a little. Her breathing is labored. She is resting now. She said that she is tired of this place. She does not feel good. we told her everyone loved her and was praying for her. She said good.

CHEMO TREATMENT

Delight had a chemo treament at 8:30pm last night. She also had her lung drained again last night about 10:30. The doctor had told Terry Joe that the cancer was what was causing the lung to fill up, so they felt like they had to do the chemo treatment. I don't know how long the treatment lasted. Walter said that she was able to get a little rest after all the treatments. She was doing okay this morning when I talked to him about 6:00am. Tonya & I are going to Dallas this morning. When we get there I will try and get Terry Joe's lap top and post on how she is doing.

TROUBLE BREATHING

We just talked to Terry Joe (at 4:00pm) and he said that Delight is still having a hard time breathing. He said that they have 9 IV's hooked up to her. They are giving her everything that they possible can. Her lung doctor has been out of town today. They are expecting him this evening. He hasn't been able to call or post today because he has been with Delight. Please continue your prayers.

ROUGH NIGHT

I talked with Terry Joe a little while ago and he said Delight had a rough night last night. She had to have her lung drain again about 11:30. They got almost a liter of fluid off. Earlier in the evening she had started coughing and wheezing again so they contacted the doctor. She got scared again but seems to be a little calmer this morning. The doctor was confident that the lung filling up would slow down soon. All of her vital sign were still good.
I'm hoping Terry Joe will have time later to day to post again.

Delight Still Improving

I am in the ICU room with my lovely wife. The hospital has free wireless for patients and their families. Isn't technology wonderful, even for a dinosaur like me. Delight is still feeling better, she has had a little nausea and had to take some pain meds but nothing unusual. Jen came back by with Little Joe and they let him in for a few minutes to see his "MiMi. I think that lifted her spirits some too. Anyway, we are waiting for the Dr. to come back by, maybe he will this afternoon or this evening. Delight is watching her soap operas and catnapping and in between trying to keep me in line. All of you take care and thanks again for keeping us in your prayers.

Terry Joe could not remember his password to post on the blog. He wanted me to tell everyone to read his COMMENT under Long Rough Day Tuesday. I even been talking to Delight!! I can not believe how good she sounded. She had biscuits & gravy this morning!! This is a answer to prayer. I believe it's a miracle.

LONG ROUGH DAY TUESDAY

Delight was put into ICU Monday afternoon. Tonya & I decided to go to Dallas as soon as we heard the news. When we arrived Terry Joe and Dewayne Brown were sitting outside waiting for ICU visiting hours at 8:00pm. Jennifer got to the hospital about the same time we did. Thanks Dewayne for taking Terry Joe a charger, eating and visiting with him. We visited with Delight for a short period Monday night. She wanted us to stay so we stayed in their room that they had the night before. Terry Joe and Jennifer stayed with Delight at the hospital. Delight had a rough night. She did not sleep. She was very anxious. She wanted to be able to see someone all the time. Tuesday morning when we were able to get back in to see her she really looked bad. She was struggling so hard to breathe. Sometimes her whole body would shake when she tried to take a breath. It was really scary watching her struggle so. She kept her eyes closed most of the day....but she was hearing every word we were saying in the room!! Tonya & I were talking to the nurse and we were telling her some story and Delight corrected us on something we told her. I said we better not be talking about her because she is listening to everything that we were saying!!! Delight was so scared. One of us had to be touching her at all times. She did not want Terry Joe out of her sight. He was able to slip off to take a shower and rest a little bit while we stayed with her but after he was gone a while she asked us to call him to come back. Jennifer left also to rest and take a shower. Once in a while she would ask for a drink. They brought her lunch in and she ate 3 little bites of Jello and a couple of drinks of tea. We guess it was the Jello that made her nauseous. They finally gave her something for that. Her vital signs were much improve yesterday from the day before. About 3:00 yesterday afternoon one of her doctors came in and said that the blood work showed she had a kidney infection that had got in her blood. They put her on some high powered antibodics and numerous other bags of something?? Anyway that was good news to have an answer. That still did not make her feel any better...because she was just feeling and struggling so bad. The doctor was really incouraging. 4 or 5 more days in ICU and then a few days in a regular room and she would be good to go. It did not seem like any big deal to him. We told her goodbye because Marion, Darlene and Walter were soon to be at the hospital. When they arrived around 4:00 Tonya & I left not really wanting to but felt like we should.
We talked to Terry Joe this morning and he said that the lung doctor drained a liter and a half of fluid off of her right lung. They have been pumping so many fluids into her that it caused her lung to fill back up quickly. She just had it drained on Saturday. After he drained that lung she IMMEDIATELY got some relief and has been feeling better ever since. He said she feels a LOT better this morning. She is sitting up a little is drinking some. So that is GREAT news. He said that she was not out of the woods yet though.
Yesterday several times she would ask us to pray for her. We would tell her how many people were praying for her and that seemed to help her. Please continue to pray for her and her family. When I hear anything else I will post.

IMPROVED

Just a quick note Terry Joe called about 8:45pm Tuesday night and said that Delight was must improved. The lung doctor had drained her lung and her breathing had become much easier. She was not as anxious as she had been all day. I will blog more later today when I get caught up on a little work.

NO CHEMO TODAY

Delight did not start her chemo today. She was so weak this morning that Terry Joe took her down to the emergency room. Her blood pressure was so low. 60 over something he could not remember. Her oxygen level was very low, too. She has had 3 bags of I V fluid and her pressure is up to 90/60. They are going to admit her to the hospital sometime this afternoon for some more testing. He could not talk very long because they forgot their phone chargers and he just had a little charge left on his phone. They ended up going to Dallas Saturday afternoon because she got to where she could barely breath. She had to go get her lung drained. When she called me Saturday afternoon she sounded really like she could not breath. She could barely talk. When I hear anything else I will post.

FEELING BETTER

Tonya & I took Delight some delicious lasagna for lunch today. Mama Mia Burwell had made lasagna for a fund raiser at the bank...Wendy is going on a mission trip to China. Delight ate 4 or 5 bites and she was full. She thought she might eat some more later. When we got to the house she was sitting on the couch. She looked really good but she said that she was sleepy. We watched The Young & Restless with her and then we left her to sleep.

We are suppose to go to First Baptist to hear Beth Moore tonight. She said earlier that she was going. Maybe she can. I think it will be encouraging to her. Something uplifting. Everyone needs some encouragement at some point in their life. I need it every day!

Delight met us for lunch. She ate a few bites of lunch. She is emotionally and physically drained. Please continue to pray for Delight and her family. The chemo is going to be very tough on her.

NOT GOOD NEWS

Delight called and said that she did not get good news. The cancer has grown in several places and there were more places on her liver. So they are stopping the test chemo and starting the new one on Monday. She have 2 weeks of chemo and 1 week off. Monday she will have 6 hours of chemo. The next week she will have 20 minutes. Delight was very upset when she was talking to me. I am sorry I did not find out anything else to tell you...I just did not feel she felt like answering my questions. All we can do is PRAY for her.

LOOKS GOOD TODAY

Delight is at work today looking good but really tired!!! Yesterday she did not feel well enough to come to work. The chemo really zaps her energy. Over the weekend the only time she got out was when she went to church.

They will be leaving this afternoon for Dallas. Terry Joe thought that it would be easier on her going today instead of so early in the morning. She has an appointment at 10:30 to find out the results of her scans. She said that she will call when she gets out of the doctors office. I will post when I find out any news.

SCANS TODAY

Delight went to Dallas today for her scans. Charmyrle took her. They got back about 2:15. Delight was tired and glad to home on the couch!! Wednesday when she goes to Dallas she will see the doctor to find out the results of the scans.

We took Delight to see Mama Mia at the movies yesterday. We all just loved it. It was great. Delight made it really good. We were glad she felt like going with us.

SOUNDING GREAT!!!!!

Delight called and she sounded SO good. All of her blood work looked good. They are very pleased with the way she is doing. The doctor gave her a prescription for something to help her mouth. She is supposed to rinse her mouth 1 hour before she eats. They said that it works kinda like the liquid bandage.

They had made a stop at the PGA store in Plano. She thought they would be heading back to Idabel pretty soon.

She said she would see us in the morning.

AT HOME TODAY

Delight did not feel well enough to come to work today. Walter & I went out to check on her at lunch. We took her some orange salad stuff her mother had made for her. She said that really tasted good to her since her mouth is really bothering her. The chemo has made it raw. So she is very limited on what she can eat.

She looked really good but she said that she just felt bad. Terry Joe is going to take her tomorrow to Dallas. Cydne is going to bring the twins to see her....seeing them makes her feel a lot better.

SHORT WORK DAY

Delight came to work today for about 5 minutes. She said that she was feeling sick and sweating so she thought she better go home. Walter drove her and I followed in my car so I could bring Walter back to the bank. I went back to take her a sandwich & tea a little after 12:00 and she was feeling better. She sat up and ate about 1/8 of the sandwich. I said you better eat a little more and she said that she would work on it. She rested about all weekend. Terry Joe took her for a ride yesterday down to see her mother. Other than that short trip she said that she was on the couch. She said that she would try it again in the morning.

GOING STRONG

Delight was at work again bright and early today!!! She stayed until around 2:30. She looked really good today and she acted like she felt pretty good. She was looking forward to a quite weekend of rest.

FEELING GOOD

Delight was at work again bright & early this morning. She looked good and felt pretty good. The only complaint that she had was she said that she was tired. The trip yesterday wasn't to bad on her. After we had lunch today we went to Sherman's and she bought a pair of comfy shoes. We also went on a tour of Pam's new house. It is full of beautiful antiques. She has done a great job of decorating. We enjoyed the tour. The twins also came in this afternoon for a visit with MIMI. I'm sure she enjoyed that. I think she probably left work around 3:00. She had to go home and rest so she could go to the Birthday Party Club's party for June at Papa's tonight. She will have had a full day if she makes it to the party!!

DID NOT HAVE TO DRAIN LUNG

Delight called right after lunch and said that the lung doctor did not drain her lung. He did a scan and it showed just a little fluid build up. He said that she could go ahead and drain it if she wanted him to...she chose not to get it drained. She did her blood work with Dr. Mirtsching's office, too. All the blood work looked good. They were on the way to have lunch. They should get home early enough for her to get some rest.

MUCH IMPROVED

Delight was at work bright and early this morning. She is feeling much better today than yesterday afternoon. She thinks maybe it was the pizza that she ate at lunch yesterday that made her sick. Do you think Cindy Willis did something to your pizza since she was with us at the Pizza Hut??? (I think it is all Cindy's fault that you got sick) She went home and slept on the couch until Terry Joe got home. Then he took her for a ride to see the twins. They had colored a picture especially for her and they wanted her to come and get it. Seeing the grand kids seem to always make her feel better.

She looks really good today. Her spirits seem good today, too. Terry Joe is taking her tomorrow to Dallas. She has blood work to do and she thinks that it is time to get her lung drained again. It has been about 3 weeks since she has had it done. She was beginning to get a little winded walking to the car today at lunch. She has made it all day again today. It's after 3:00 and she is still here. I'm proud of her making it all day!!

FEELING FAIR

Sorry, I just forgot to post Friday. I thought about it during the day but then by the end of the day....I forgot all about it. She had a good day on Friday. She worked all day and felt fairly decent. Thursday night she had gone out and watched the twins swim and then went bye to see and hold baby Ayva. Saturday she stayed on the couch most of the day. Saturday afternoon late she took a short drive with Terry Joe. Sunday she went to church and then Sunday evening she went to go hold Ayva. I think that concluded all of her weekend activities. Today she met us at Pizza Hut for lunch. She ate 2 pieces of her personal pan pizza. She looks great!! She is trying to get a little of her work done this afternoon. Well...she just left she got to feeling bad and thought she better just go on home. Maybe she will feel better tomorrow.

NO WORK TODAY

Delight did not come to work today. I took her new medicine to her this morning and she looked good but she said that she was so tired and sleepy. She first said that she would meet us for lunch but then decided she was to sleepy to get ready. So we took lunch to her. She ate about as much as a ant. She said that she was feeling better about the time that we were leaving but she decided that it was to late to get a shower and get dressed. So she decided to skip work today. We thought that sounded like a good idea. Maybe she will feel like getting out tomorrow.

ON THE WAY HOME

We just talked to Terry Joe and they are on the way home. He said that the doctor adjusted her blood pressure medicine. It seems her blood pressure has been up the past week or so. He said possibly that is what has been causing the headaches. He also gave her some anxiety pills. Hopefully they will help her with her emotions/stress/life.

DOCTOR IN DALLAS

Delight came to work on Tuesday but she did not feel good at all. The medication is making Delight very emotional. She told me several times that she was very tired. We were able to go to lunch but soon after we got back to work she went home.

Tammy was going to take Delight to Dallas today but Terry Joe took her. Terry Joe called Tammy early this morning and said that she had another migraine and that he was going to be taking her to Dallas to see the doctor. They had a appointment at 1:30. At 2:00 they were in the doctor's office waiting to see the doctor... the nurse had already been in and taken blood. Delight's headache had gone away and Terry Joe said he would call when they left the doctor's office.

ANOTHER MIGRAINE

Delight was at work today not feeling her best. She looked good but she said that she was just extremely tired. We went to lunch but she did not eat a whole lot.

Friday she had a good day visiting with her company. Saturday she did not feel as well and stayed on the couch most of the day. Yesterday she stayed in bed all day because she had another migraine. A couple of weeks ago when she had the migraine it took her a couple of days to bounce back. The medicine that she take kinda makes her groggy. She left the bank today at about 1:30 saying she needed to go to the couch. I'm really surprised that she lasted until 1:30. She said I'll see you in the morning.

FEELING GOOD!!!

Delight told someone today at lunch that she felt really good today. She looks really good today, too. She is getting excited to see all of her family that will be coming in starting tonight. Blu, Jennifer and the kids are the only ones that will be staying with Terry Joe & Delight. The little twins made a surprise visit to see their MIMI this afternoon. They were coloring her all kinds of pictures. They are so cute.

HEADING HOME

Delight is already on her way home. Carla doesn't waste any time!! She did her blood work and EKG this morning. The blood work looked good except it did show her to be a little dehydrated. She needs to drink more liquid. The EKG results were not back yet. She sounded really good. She said that they were going to stop in Paris for a couple of things and then back to Idabel.

WATCH OUT FOR THE QUEEN BEE

Delight is a work again today!!!! Not feeling as well as she did yesterday but she looks great. She is buzzing around everywhere and making sure we are all in our places. We went to lunch and she ate about half of her sandwich. Her appetite has changed and she said that her taste buds are all messed up. Nothing tastes like it should. She goes back to Dallas tomorrow with Carla for blood work & EKG. They will be checking to see if she has a heart and make sure that it is beating correctly.

LUNG DRAINED

Delight had to make a quick trip to Dallas Saturday morning. She had to go get her lung drained. She was having a hard time breathing. They drained a little more than a liter off. The doctor is going to set up an appointment every other week for Delight to have that drained since she is going to have to be in Dallas every week anyway. She said that she did nothing but lay around the rest of the weekend. She just took it easy. She is getting ready for Jennifer and her family this weekend. I think they are planning to have a big 4th of July with the whole family!!

Delight has been at work all day today. She has felt really good and she looks great. She is leaving just now at 3:50. I told her that she has put in a full days work. She just laughed and said that she felt like the couch was calling now. It's good to see her feel better.

FEELING TIRED

Delight was feeling pretty tired when she came to work today. She got here about 11:15 and stayed until about 3:30. She looked good today but she just did not have the energy or oxygen to talk much. She slept really good last night. But she suspects the chemo pills are making her tired. She said that the couch was calling her name so she was heading that way.

GREAT DAY

Our trip to Dallas yesterday was GREAT. Delight was a totally different person Wednesday than the person we were with on Tuesday. It was just a answer to prayer!! She felt like eating at Pappasito's (the food was wonderful) and make just a few stops to shop a little. It was a treat for Tonya & I too because we expected to go straight down to Dallas and straight back. I was glad Delight felt well enough to enjoy our trip.

The hardest thing about the trip was trying to decide where we would eat lunch!

She was at work before 8:00 this morning. She said that she did not sleep good last night. She has been up since about 3:00am. At about 1:00 she decided that she better go on home and rest. She said that she was beginning to hurt and she was very tired. So she has gone home to rest.

NOT FEELING GOOD

Delight did not feel like working today. She woke up with a migraine this morning. It was a little better at lunch today. She did not eat much lunch and did not even feel like talking.

Delight called Tonya about 3:15 and said after we left she was able to sleep and she feels 10 times better than she did when we were there at lunch!!!!! That is good!!

Tonya & I will be taking Delight to Dallas tomorrow. We are going in my parents Suburban so she can lay down if she feels like it.

ROUGH DAY

Delight came to work today but she really did not feel good at all. She was having problems breathing and her chest was hurting her. She left about 2:30 and she said that her back was hurting her. I am surprised that she stayed that long. She really did not know if the breathing problem was from the lung filling up again or if it was a side effect of the chemo. She goes to Dallas on Wednesday.

Cydne brought the twins to see her today. The tellers had pizza in the kitchen so she was able to share pizza with them. They were wanting to draw her pictures. They sure do love their MIMI.

Delight is working today and looks really good but has some pain issues. Her back has really been bothering her. She is leaving work now (2:30) to go and visit with the twins. Cydne is bringing them to see mimi and papa. That is the only excitement that she is planning to have this weekend. She is hoping for a quite weekend so she can get a little rest.

AT WORK BRIGHT & EARLY

Delight was at work at 7:00am this morning and she is still here at 2:15!!! She is having a pretty good day except she is having quite a bit of pain. She had to take some pain pills when we were eating our lunch. She is still wearing the pain patch, too. She has also squeezed in a hair cut today. She finally left about 3:30 and she was really tired. She was going home to rest.

STARTING NEW CHEMO TODAY

Delight called and they had just left the doctor's office. The doctor said that the cancer has progressed...... some, not a whole lot. New places were on the chest bone, femur (near hip), spine and the places that he was most concerned about were the 3 new places on the liver. They did blood work on her and she received 3 bottles of pills today. She takes 3 pills a day. She doesn't have a break in taking these pills....she will be taking them for 6 weeks continually each day. She has to go to the doctor weekly to get her blood checked. After 3 weeks they will be doing scans on her. He told her if she was not happy with this chemo after 6 weeks they would change. I asked her about side effects. She said that it has the normal ones. She did say that 50% of the people have really bad fatigue.

She voice sounded really good. They were looking around in Academy when I was talking to her.

Let's pray that this drug will be the answer for Delight.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!

Delight got a call this morning at 8:00. She passed all of her tests and she was accepted into the clinical trial program!!! She has to be in Dallas tomorrow at 1:00 to get started. The chemo will be in pill form. (the chemo is specifically for the triple negative breast cancer that she has). She sounded really excited!!! She will be coming to work shortly. I'll post again when I find out more info.

RESULTS TOMORROW

Delight called on her way home and said that she finished all of her tests. She would know the results tomorrow. They drained her lung while they were there. They removed a liter of fluid. She was very tired and ready to get home.

SCANS, SCANS, SCANS & MORE SCANS

Delight called about 2:30 and said that she was SO tired. She said that she had all the scans that she could stand today. Her and Carla were in McKinney on their way home. She said that she slept all the way to Dallas and would probably sleep all the way home. Monday she has a couple more scans & a EKG to take. Then maybe she will know Tuesday if she can be in the clinical trial.

CLINICAL TRIAL

Everything that I said yesterday about the chemo schedule has changed. Delight got a call late yesterday afternoon and Dr. Mirtsching wants her to be in the clinical trial if she can pass all of the tests/scans. She will have tests Friday & Monday. If they all turn out good she will be in the clinical trial. The trial chemo is in pill form. She will try this chemo for 8 weeks and then they will do the scans again and she if she has made any improvement. This chemo is for people with triple negative breast cancer. That is the type of cancer Delight has.

Delight looked really good today. She said that she hurt a little, not bad. She has been taking some pain pills pretty regularly.

Riley, Reesha and baby Ayva surprised us at lunch!! We were having Johnice & Jane's birthday parties today. What a nice surprise to have them join our party.

DECISION ON CHEMO

Delight has now made a decision on what chemo treatment she is going to do. She is going to take the 2 chemos (cisplatin & navelbine) that the doctor had originally planed to give her. She will undergo 3 months of those 2 chemos, if those chemo do not help her she will then start the clinical trial chemo (sutent).

Her marker count had tripled since March. Marker count is determined by testing her blood. The marker count is what told them the cancer is very aggressive.

SCANS FRIDAY

The patch Delight is using is Fentanyl Transdermal System.

Terry Joe and Delight were up about all night talking about what they thought would be the best step to take next. She is not for sure if she can qualify for the test chemo. Her heart and brain has to be in tip top shape (along with some other conditions). She is going to have a brain scan done on Friday along with the other scans.

She got the results from her blood work late yesterday. It showed that the cancer is VERY aggressive. The doctor is going to have to be VERY aggressive back. So they are trying to move very quickly.

Delight looks good today. She came to work at about 9:30 today. She was hurting when we got back from lunch so she was going to take some pain pills. She is still here at work now. I hope she will go and rest before her big night out to Rick & Tonya's house. I think I'll make some home made ice cream to tempt them over to my house, too.
I can't let Tonya get ahead of me.

WORKED TODAY

Delight came to work today and looked really good. She was hurting somewhat. She was able to stay here until about 2:30. We went to lunch and went bye to see little Ayva Delight. She is growing like a little weed. She is a cutie.

Her scans are going to be Friday. They want to do the scans before she starts her chemo. They are also talking possibly about doing a experimental chemo. Delight was going to talk to Terry Joe about it tonight.

Tonya and I have taken up nursing. We changed her pain patch for her. It took us both to make sure that we did it correctly (and then it's questionable) I don't think anyone would hire us for nursing duty. Delight just lets us work on her because she is needing some relief from pain and we work cheap for her.

DELIGHT NEEDS OUR PRAYERS

Delight had a very busy weekend. She was able to go to Relay for Life Friday night. See was able to visit with a lot of people. She enjoyed seeing everyone. Sunday she went to church and out to eat at Papa's.

She left this morning for Dallas at 6:45. Terry Joe had a class starting today so Carla Stauter took her. She was looking forward to talking to the doctor.

The report from the doctor is not good. The pain she has been having is from tumors. She is going to have scans sometime this week. The doctor is changing her chemo. She will start chemo Monday or Tuesday next week. It will be every 3 weeks for 6 or 7 hours. This will be a stronger chemo. This chemo will stop that lung from building up fluid. She doesn't know how many she will have. She is ready to get started. He gave her a prescription for the pain patches.

Please continue to lift Delight up in prayer. She needs every prayer that we can pray for her.

TURN AROUND

Guess who showed up to work today with bells on???? She showed up around 10:00 and is still here at 2:45 and going strong!!!! A complete turn around from the past few days!!! Isn't this GREAT news. This must be some kind of PATCH!!!!! Whatever it is she likes it.

Baby Ayva Delight came to see us at the INB this afternoon!! What a beautiful baby. I even got to hold her. She is just precious. Her MIMI was so happy to show her off.

PATCH IS WORKING

Delight got a patch to help relieve her pain yesterday afternoon. It HAS helped. She said that she still has a little dull pain. She was thankful that it has given her some relief. She was asleep this morning when I had to take her something she needed. She was saying that was the only thing about the patch it that it was making her sleepy. She said that she was going to come to work as soon as she got her shower. I told her that we would be celebrating at lunch today!! She said okay.

ZERO ENERGY

Tonya & I went to take Delight some lunch today. She was in bed sleeping when we got to their house. She did get up to eat with us. She was breathing a lot better but was still in a lot of pain. She took one pain pill and Terry Joe brought in some more in a while and she took another one when he got home. She still doesn't have any energy. She looks good but you can tell she is hurting. It is hard to see her in pain and not be able to do anything about it.

Thanks for all the food. Terry Joe was getting ready to warm something when we were leaving.

BACK HOME

I talked with Delight about 8:30 last night and she was extremely tired. They made it to the emergency room at about noon yesterday. They did not see the doctor until about 4:00. Apparently they all had some misunderstanding at what time she was going to arrive at the emergency room. Anyway they drained about a liter of fluid. They left about 5 and arrived home about 8:10. It seems that they get stuck in traffic about every time that they go. She will be going to the doctor on Monday to see Dr. Mirtsching (her oncologist) and they will meeting also with the lung doctor (at the same time) to dicuss possibly a different plan of action. Maybe to change what kind of chemo she is taking. She said she will call me this morning and possibly come to work today.

Terry Joe called about 4:30 and said that they were still in the emergency room. He said that they were going to leave pretty soon. I asked him if they got the lung drained and his phone cut off. I wasn't able to get the answer. I have waited for him to call back but he hasn't as of 5:00. So I don't know anything else to tell you. I'll post in the morning.

JUST DEAL WITH THE PAIN????

Delight talked with the nurse yesterday afternoon and they told her that they THINK all her pain is from her surgery from when they sealed her lung. They told her just to take the pain pills more often. She told Delight that she would have the pain whether she was laying down, standing up or whatever she was doing. Delight said that she is NOT having the surgery on the other lung. She would just go to Dallas every other week and have it drained if she had to. They did go ahead and make her an appointment(with the surgeon) for Monday if she feels like she has not improved. If the pain gets unbearable she is to go to the emergency room.

Walter, Tonya & I went to have lunch with Delight. She isn't coming to work today. She is still in lots of pain. She did call the lung doctor while we were there. They will call her back sometime this afternoon to schedule a appointment for her to come and have her lung drained.

Please pray that Delight will have a good day soon. She said that she wishes she could have one good day.

ROUGH MONDAY

Delight called and said that she was not coming to work this morning. She said that she was just hurting to much. She was trying to decide which doctor to call. (she didn't know whether to call the lung doctor or her oncologist) She said that she had a tightness in her chest, her breathing was bad, and her right side was hurting really bad. Terry Joe had to run a quick errand and would be back shortly in case they had to go to Dallas. She said that she would call me back when she found out what she was going to be doing.

GOOD NIGHT!!!!

Having a good night of sleep meant a lot to Delight today. She is feeling better than she has the past few mornings. She slept all night without waking up last night. Terry Joe's alarm went off at 5:30 and she got up and took a shower and went back to bed until 8:30 this morning!!! But she said that she is still sleepy. She was begging to go home after we ate lunch and take a nap, but I insisted that she had been off to much lately and she need to come back to work!! So she decided to work a while longer. She said she was just going to sleep all weekend.

She looks really good today. The twins have a ball game tonight at 8:30. She hopes to feel well enough to make it. They thought they were playing last night so they went to the ball park and it had been changed to night. Bracee also has a dance program tomorrow night that she wants to go.

Hello Delight!

I told her again today how good she looked but she is still wishing that she felt as good as she looked. Still NO energy.

The fluid that they drained off of the lung last Friday was cancerous. The doctor is wanting to seal of this lung but Delight is uncertain what she is going to do. The surgery and healing time was a lot worse that what she had been lead to believe. Her ribs are still sore from the surgery the last time. When she makes some kind of decision I will let you know.

HURTING ALL OVER

Delight is at work today, barely. She does not feel good at all. She has not been sleeping very much. No energy at all. Her back is hurting and her legs are hurting, she is just hurting all over. She said that it is just side effects from the chemo. Terry Joe took her for a ride yesterday and he wanted to eat at Papa's but she didn't feel like it. This is her second week for the chemo.

Blu, Jennifer, Kaylee & Jo were here over the weekend. They were all having a good time except for Blu. He was having some hurting in his side. The visit was cut short when they had to leave early Sunday morning to take Blu to the hospital in Dallas. His appendix had ruptured. Thankfully she got him to the hospital before to much of the infection had spread. He is supposed to go home today from the hospital. Blu, we hope that you are feeling better!! Take care of yourself.

PS Friday she did get her lung drained. They drained a liter and a half of fluid off of her left lung. She is able to breathe a lot better.

BACK TO DALLAS

The lung doctor from Dallas called Delight back and he wants her to come to the emergency room tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 to drain the lung. She is ready for some relief. Blu, Jennifer and the kids are coming to Idabel tomorrow night. Delight is looking forward to seeing all of them. If anything different happens tomorrow, I will post.

SHE LOOKS GOOD

We took Delight her lunch and visited a little bit earlier. She looked good (I really did not expect her to look as good as she did) and her breathing was a whole lot better than when I had talked with her this morning. She said that she had just taken a breathing treatment. She still had not heard from the doctor in Dallas. She said that she was going to give him until 2:00 and if she had not heard from him she was going to call him again. She said she would call me when she found out anything.

OTHER LUNG

I talked to Delight a little while ago and you could really tell that she was having a difficult time breathing. She said Dr. Salyer called and said that the xray showed it was the left lung this time. (the right lung was the one that she had the surgery on) Dr. Salyer's office sent the results to the lung doctor in Dallas. She is waiting to hear from them. Possibly she could go down tomorrow to have it drained. She said that she slept until 4:30 this morning. She slept on the couch on pillows. When I hear anything else I will post.

A LITTLE BETTER

Delight went to see Dr. Salyer this morning. They did a chest xray on her. They will not know the results until in the morning. Terry Joe & Delight both thought that it looked like quite a bit of fluid had built back up on the lung. But he said that they were not doctors and they better wait and see what Dr. Salyer said. He gave her some water pills and some inhalers to see maybe they would help some.

Terry Joe seemed to think she rested better last night. He is HAPPY to be out of school.

When I hear anything in the morning I will post again.

BREATHING PROBLEMS

Delight had a very busy weekend. She went to the twins program on Friday night and she was able to go to Lindsey's graduation on Saturday night. She also was able to go to church on Sunday and watch the twins a little while Sunday afternoon. Monday she was able to work until early afternoon. She went home and took a nap Monday afternoon. When she left work she was having a hard time breathing. She was unable to sleep Monday night. She could not breathe well enough to sleep. Terry Joe called me this morning to tell me that she was not coming to work today. Walter and I went to go check on her at lunch. She had been sleeping most of the morning raised up on the couch. She was still having trouble breathing. She said that she does not think it is her lungs that have filled up she is thinking it is more like allergies or possibly a cold that has settled in her chest. They are waiting on the doctors office to call them back to see what they need to do. Hopefully she will find out something soon. When I hear anything I will post again.

HARD WORKING GIRL

Delight was at work bright and early this morning. She said that she was up and down most of the night. She still cannot completely get rid of the pain. She is going to try another pain medicine. The pain is from where they had the drainage tube in between her ribs. The doctors keep telling her that it just takes time for that to completely heal. She is trying to be patient but I think she is really getting tired of it. Sunday she is going to start taking her chemo pills again. She will be taking 6 pills daily. She was taking 8 and the doctor said for her to take 2 less a day. She is hoping the lesser amount will keep her hand and feet from hurting. The twins have a play tonight and Lindsey has graduation tomorrow night. She is planning to attend both of those functions. Between those functions she hopes that she will be able to rest.

GOOD REPORT

Delight called and said both doctors have released her. She doesn't have to go back to either one.

She called Dr. Mirtsching and told him that she had been released. They are going to get back with her on when she needs to start taking her chemo pills again.

They were already headed back to Idabel. She told me that she would see me bright and early in the morning.

BACK AT WORK

Delight was at work this morning bright and early even though she had a busy weekend. She did say that she was tired but that hasn't slowed her down at all. If you didn't know that she was sick you could not even tell it the way she has been buzzing around here everywhere.

Charmyrle is taking Delight to Dallas tomorrow. She will be seeing the 2 surgeons that did her lung and gall bladder surgeries. She said that they should be releasing her to start her chemo pills again. Her hands and feet have just now started feeling normal. She is not going to take as many pills a day as she did so maybe she will not have the trouble with her hands and feet.

STILL IN PAIN

Delight is still in a lot of pain. She is having trouble with her shoulder hurting. She was saying that is were they put some type of gas in for her surgery. The doctor told her that the pain was to be expected. She got some different pain medicine hoping that would ease the pain some. She has not been resting very good at night. I know last night she had to get up twice and soak in the tub.

We took her some lunch again today. We ate our lunch and watched The Young and Restless with her. She looked good. Her new pain medicine came while we were eating. So maybe she took it and it will ease the pain so she can get some much needed rest.

Terry Joe will be in late tonight.

REALLY TIRED

Tonya & I took Delight lunch today. She was feeling much better today than she did yesterday. She said that she is still very weak. The doctor told her that it would help her if she got out and walked. She was going to try and walk a little outside. She looked really good and she ate most of her lunch that we took her. Her mother was going to come and check on her around 1:00 today. Terry Joe left yesterday for OKC with the golf team. State playoffs were today and tomorrow. Johnice did her laundry and we did her dishes or maybe I should say put them in and started the dishwasher!! She is thinking she may come to work tomorrow. Who knows about that girl???? When I hear from her or see her again I'll post.

HOME AGAIN

Delight was released from the hospital today!!! She sounded really good on the phone and was excited about getting to come home. She thinks that things are going to start looking up for her now!!!

SURGERY GOES GOOD

Delight went into surgery around 11:15 and Terry Joe was calling around 1:15 saying everything went good. The doctor was able to do it laparoscopic. He said the gall bladder was in bad shape. She had a couple of stones that were embedded. He still thought they should be home sometime tomorrow.

YES---- SHE'S IN THE HOSPITAL AGAIN

Yesterday afternoon Delight came into my office about 1:45 and she said that she just had to go home because she could not stand the pain she was having. She looked and acted like a totally different person than she did just a few hours earlier. She had called the doctor earlier to complain about the pain and he called her back while she was in here and he said for her to get back to Dallas immediately. They left Idabel about 3:00 and was checking into the hospital at 5:50. She finally got some pain medicine (dilaudid) at 9:30 last night that worked. She was pain free then and has been ever since. She has been taking it about every 2 hours. The doctor said that it is her gall badder. She will be having surgery early afternoon today. He is almost sure that he will be able to do it laparoscopic. That will be GREAT if he doesn't have to cut on her. If everything goes good then she will be able to leave the hospital on Saturday morning. Terry Joe said he would call as possible after surgery.

Please keep them in your prayers today. Pray that she can start feeling better after this surgery.

LOOKING GOOD!!!

This is sweet little Ayva Delight Eidson!!!!!!!!!!
Delight is back at work today!!! She look really good!!! She said that she feels pretty good, too. She still has a little hurting in her lower side/back. The doctor told her the inflammation was probably due to the surgery. She said that the medicine has already helped her.

She has some beautiful pictures of baby Ayva she will be posting shortly. She is a cutie!!

ON THE WAY HOME

Delight just called and again and she said that she does NOT have any blood clots or she does NOT have pneumonia. All that they could find was some inflammation and they are going to treat that with prednisone. She was extremely tired when we were talking to her. They had just left the doctors office heading home. I will post again tomorrow.

Delight just called and said that her problem was NOT from the fluid building up. (the surgery must have worked) The problem was caused from something else.

Possibly a blood clot???

They were on the way to get a cat scan done on her chest right now. The doctor was going, too. He wanted to read & look at the scan when it was done. She said she would call when she found out some more information.

BACK TO DALLAS

Terry Joe & Delight are going back to Dallas this morning. They are going to do an x-ray on her lungs at noon and then she sees the doctor at 1:00. She did not come to work yesterday because she was hurting so bad and was totally exhausted. Tonya and I went to check on her at lunch and she told us that she thought the fluid had built back up because of her breathing and hurting in her back. She is really disappointed that she went through the pain of the surgery and it did not seem to be successful. Her pain since the surgery has been really bad. She is having to take a LOT of pain pills. The pain is in her side where they had put the drain tube in. Talking to her last night she was glad she was going to get some relief. She is supposed to call me after her visit with the doctor. I'll try a post again this afternoon when I hear from them.

WELCOME BABY AYVA DELIGHT

Little baby Ayva Delight arrived on her PAPA Eidson birthday!!! What a WONDERFUL birthday present. She arrived at 7:43am this morning, weighing in at 7lbs 10oz. She was 20 1/2". We are so glad she had her at Idabel so we could check out little Ayva. She is just beautiful!!! I think she looks just like her MiMi. Delight was at the hospital at 3:00am. Delight looked really great since she had been up most of the night. She was enjoying looking at her new grand baby. She got to hold her soon after she was born. Great Grandma Johnice arrived at the hospital at 5:00am to wait on the new arrival. 2 of Reesha's sisters had been up with her all night. Riley stayed up with her more than he should have. They were getting on to him being on his leg so much. I think he was just excited about Ayva. Bonita & Cheyenne were also there to welcome the arrival of Ayva!!

SCREAM OR CRY????????

I told Delight I didn't know whether to scream or cry. She got some FANTASTIC news this morning.

The doctor found NO NO NO NO NO signs of tumors in her head. That is something to shout about. What wonderful news. We all agree that if anyone needed to hear good news it was Delight. What encouragement this must bring to her. She doesn't have to go back to see him for 3 months. He wants to keep a close watch on the head.

Delight and Tammy were off to celebrate at PF Changs!!!! I told them I wish I was with them to celebrate such good news.

Reesha is just waiting for Delight & Terry Joe to get back into town....then she is going to deliver baby Ayva. The baby is already in position. I think Reesha is ready for baby Ayva to come, too.

I'm so glad to tell you about this miracle that has happened. Let's all celebrate!!!
Tonya is having a party at her house!!! Everyone is welcome. The only thing is I haven't told Tonya.....yet. I'll be sure to let everyone know when it's going to happen.

BACK TO DALLAS

Delight was in the bank this morning for about an hour before she left to go to Dallas. She looked really good. She said that this was the first morning since her surgery that she felt good.

Tammy was taking her to Dallas for her appointment tomorrow with the doctor that did the radiation on her head. She will find out if the radiation did any good.

Riley got out of the hospital on Saturday. He just has to take it easy for the next couple of months. Reesha will be having the baby just any day now. Delight was hoping that it wasn't tonight.

I'll post again tomorrow after she calls me and tells me the results of the test.

I talked with Delight briefly a little while ago. She was still EXTREMELY tired. She has NO energy. She said that she wanted to come to work but she could not physically make it. Riley will probably get to come home tomorrow. If anything changes I'll post.

DELIGHT IS ON THE WAY HOME TO REST

Terry Joe and Delight are headed back to Idabel for some MUCH needed rest. Delight said that she didn't sleep at all last night. And Terry Joe stayed up with Riley...I think they woke him up once an hour. They both are totally exhausted. Delight said when they left Riley was sitting up eating some ice cream. She said that he is wanting to eat everything in sight. I think that is a good sign he is doing better. Reesha is feeling better her contractions have stopped. The baby heart beat is good.
Bonita and Cheyenne are on the way down to stay with them. I will check again with them tomorrow.

A GOOD NIGHT AT HOSPITAL

Johnice called this morning to give us an update. She said that Riley has a good night. They told him that he could not put any weight on his right leg for 2 months. They were not for sure if they were going to have to do any more surgeries or not. Delight had not gotten back to the hospital yet this morning when Johnice called. Reesha's was in the room with Delight and she had not gotten to the hospital either. So I don't know a lot this morning. As soon as I find out anything else I will let you know.

RILEY'S IN SURGERY

Delight called about 4:00 and said that Riley was in surgery with the plastic surgeon. They are going to graft the skin from behind the ear to fix the cut that is on the right eye lid. The doctor is also going to sew up the cut right below the hair line, too. They wanted to do the face first before they started on the lower part of his body. Delight sounded good she said that she was a little tired but her breathing was still doing okay. Reesha has been having a few contractions. They were wanting her to go up to the second floor and get them to put a monitor on her. Maybe she will do that. Riley is at Good Shephard hospital in Longview. That's all I know for now. I'll post again when I hear something else.

LONGVIEW HOSPITAL

I just talked to Johnice and she said Delight & Terry Joe just got to the hospital and they are in visited with Riley now. She said that Delight looked good.

Johnice said Riley had a bad cut over the right eye. Possibly they might have to do a skin graft. Another bad cut right under the hair line. The hip was out of joint and they got it back in place...the hip was not broken. He does have a fractured pelvis. That is all she said.

When I hear more I'll post again.

DELIGHT'S OUT???

Please stop and pray for the Eidson family. They need it. I talked with Delight about 10:00 and they were waiting for her papers to be dismissed. She told me that she would not have gotten out of the hospital today. Since Riley had the wreck they were going to dismiss her. She would just have to watch her breathing. (For those who don't know Riley had a wreck this morning at Millerton. They had to air lift him to Longview. His injuries are to the hip and leg areas. They have not found any internal injuries yet) Her voice sounded strong but she said that her nerves were shot. She said that she will feel a whole lot better when she sees Riley. She was also worried about Reesha & the baby. When she gets to Longview and checks on him she said that she will call me back. When I hear I'll post again.

A Little Cycling Inspiration...

Hey Delight - I know you are getting discouraged due to your prolonged hospitalization so I'm posting a little inspiration for you. Although you are not a cyclist, you definitely have the cycling spirit... to keep pushing forward and overcome all obstacles. Like Lance, You have the same "can do" mental attitude.

THINGS ARE LOOKING UP

Delight isn't coming home again today. The x-ray showed that she still had pockets of fluid and her lungs had not fully expanded yet. Terry Joe said that they were headed in the right direction. Hopefully they will be coming home tomorrow. At least they can see some improvement. I'll post as soon as I hear something.

STILL AT HOSPITAL

Delight is still in the hospital as of right now. They were waiting on a chest x-ray when I called about 12:00. They are doing the x-ray to find out if the lungs have expanded all the way out. Some good news is that the drainage has slowed down quite a bit. Terry Joe said that this is the first time that it has slowed down since the surgery a week ago today. When I called he was trying to catch a nurse so she could give her some pain medicine. He said sometimes they get busy and forget to give it to her. He said he would call me back when they find out something about the x-ray. When I hear anything I'll post again.

ANOTHER DAY IN HOSPITAL

Delight has to stay in the hospital again today. Terry Joe said that they are doing EVERY thing that they can to get the drainage to slow down or stop. They are getting REALLY REALLY restless. Marion, Darlene & Walter went to check on her yesterday. Walter said that she seems to be doing good other than the drainage.

The hospital stay has been a lot longer than everyone thought. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to say that they are on the way home.

NOT HOME YET

Delight hasn't made it home yet. She was disappointed Saturday and even more disappointed yesterday. She is sure ready to be home but the drainage hasn't slowed down enough yet. I talked with her yesterday and her voice sound strong. Rick and Tonya went to Ft. Worth yesterday and stopped in to see her. Tonya said that she looked great!! She said that she was just restless. Delight said she would call and let me know what was going to happen today. When I hear from her I'll post again.

FINALLY TALKED TO DELIGHT!!!!

Terry Joe called around 12:30 and said that Delight was feeling a whole lot better. Her breathing was better and they had the pain under control. They will not be coming home today. The drainage has slowed down a lot but not enough to take the tubes out. If she continues to improve in next 24 hours as much as she has in the last 24 hours she will get to come home tomorrow.

After Terry Joe told me all of that he said would you like to talk to Delight?? Of course I answered YES!! She sounded really good. She said that she was sure ready to get out of that place. She wanted to know what was going on here at the INB. Do I really want to tell her we still have not found the leak?? I did tell her we have a big hole in the floor (with no results) and that he was going to have to start outside in search of the problem. I told her she needed to get back up here so she could help them find the leak!! I was really glad to hear her voice and was pleasantly surprised how strong she sounded.

A LITTLE BETTER

We talked with Terry Joe this morning and he thought Delight was a little better. She had just completed her breathing treatment. He said that she rested okay last night but that they had woke her up quite a bit doing tests during the night. He thought that her drainage from the surgery had slowed down a lot. Yesterday she was able to walk 3 different times. She has been eating good. He didn't know if they were going to come home or not today. The doctor didn't come in last night and he hadn't been in yet this morning. Yesterday during the day she slept quite a bit so maybe she got some good rest. Jennifer and her family went to see her last night. He said he would call us if he heard any different news today.

STILL AT HOSPITAL

We talked to Terry Joe a few minutes ago and he said that Delight was sleeping. He said that she didn't sleep very well last night. He thought that they got her pain under better control last night. The drain tubes are causing her so much pain. He also said that her lungs have not all the way expanded. They expect them to expanded all the way before she can leave. He was thinking that they probably would not get to come home today. But he said that she was able to walk aound the nurses station last night. Terry Joe sounded tired. Say an extra prayer for them today.

SURGERY WENT GOOD

The surgery was a success!!! It lasted a little longer and was a bit more complicated than what Delight and Terry Joe thought. She did not get back to the room until about 6:00 last night. She rested fairly well last night. She is very uncomfortable this morning due to the surgery. We talked to Terry Joe a few minutes ago and they were in with her taking a lung scan. He said that he rested pretty good last night, too. If we hear any thing else today I'll post.

SHE'S IN SURGERY

Terry Joe called and said they had just taken Delight back to surgery. That was about 1:15. He said that the surgery would last 1 hour to 1:15 minutes. He said that they would be attaching the lung lining to the rib cage. The doctor said the fluid will not build up any more because there will be no place for it to build up. The only thing is that the lungs have to be fully expanded for this procedure to work. The doctor wasn't for sure if they would expand or not until he got into the surgery. If the procedure doesn't work she might have to have a drain tube. After the surgery he said he would call back. He said it would probably be at least 3:00. He had to go move the car and take the things up to the room. When I hear again I will post.

UPDATE ON SURGERY

Terry Joe called around 10:00 and said that the surgeon had an emergency heart transplant to do before he could do Delight's surgery. There isn't anyway to know when they will get to Delight's surgery. It maybe today or it could even be tomorrow. So she will stay in the hospital tonight and possibly tomorrow night. They had her in a bed because she was extremely tired. When we know anything else I'll post.

SURGERY THIS MORNING

Terry Joe and Delight are in Dallas this morning. Her back had started hurting really bad and her breathing had become difficult. So she thought that her lung had filled back up with fluid. When she called her lung doctor he said that he wanted to go ahead and do surgery to seal her lung. He was able to get her in to a surgeon this morning. It is supposed to be day surgery. They described the surgery as like sealing an envelope. They seal her lung to keep the fluid from getting into it. After the surgery Terry Joe is going to call us. I will post after we hear from him.

DELIGHT IS BEAUTIFUL

Delight is having a good week so far. Her hands and feet are still giving her some trouble. Both hands and her feet are peeling. I don't know if you can tell by the picture how they are a reddish/purple color. Lisa bought her some gel socks and they really help her feet feel better.

She looks so pretty today that I had to take her picture so everyone can see how good she looks with her new haircut. She just looks wonderful!!!!!!!

DELIGHT IS DOING GOOD

Delight had a rough start to the week but she was much better at the end. The doctor had her to start taking a nausea pill and 1/2 of a pill to keep her from getting upset about every little thing. Those pills have really helped her. She has been able to work all day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. She has looked really good and even got her hair cut this week. Maybe I can get her to take a couple of picture next week.

Sorry I forgot to post this week. I forget so many people depend on this. As we were leaving on Friday I told Delight that I forgot to post and I told her I would try and post sometime during the weekend. She told me that I was in trouble with Jennifer. Sorry Jennifer. I'll try and do better.

DELIGHT IS ENCOURAGED WITH REPORTS

Delights visit with the lung doctor required her to have her lung drained again. He drained 1 1/2 liter of fluid off this time. This is the third time that she has had the lung drained since Feb 4. They talked about possibly doing the surgery soon so she will not be having to have the lung drained so often. The fluid is in the lining that is next to the lung. The surgery would be attaching the hole in the lining to the chest wall. She has not made up her mind if she is going to do the surgery. The doctor wants her to try and walk down her road some to see if this would help keep the fluid from building up.

The doctor refilled her chemo pills for 5 more times. Since the pills are working he wants her to continue taking them. She will go back April 22 for more scans. One of the scans that she will be taking that day will be the scan on the head. She will visiting with the doctor that did the scan on the head that afternoon. She has an appointment with her regular oncologist, Dr. Mirtsching on April 30 to discuss the rest of the scans.

Delight looks really pretty today. She said if she only felt as good as I say she looks. She said that she really doesn't hurt she just feels tired & draggy. Continue to pray for Delight....they are being answered.

MORE GOOD NEWS!!!!

Terry Joe and Delight went to see the doctor in Dallas today. The spot in the liver had shrunk from quarter size to dime size and the rest of the places had not changed. (at least they hadn't grown any) She considered all these reports to be great news!!! The doctor also wanted her to go and see the lung doctor to check and see if she needed to have her lung drained. Her appointment with him was not until 3:00 this afternoon so they were trying to kill some time when she called. She started her chemo pills on Monday. I don't know what they said about if she will have to take another round of chemo after she completes these two weeks. I'll have to let you know.

GREAT FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delight got a call this morning from the nurse about the results of her scans. The nurse could not wait to tell her!! Delight will go and visit with the doctor next week.

The scans showed the places had SHRUNK!!!!! This chemo must be working!!! She thinks she will have to do at least one more round of chemo. She is having a very hard time with her hands and feet hurting her to the point that she is not sleeping at night. She can barely walk because of the pain in her feet. But she said that she could put up with the pain since it was doing some good.

I think today she looks really really good. I told her that she hasn't looked this good in a long time. She looks so pretty and her color in her face looks better than it has in the last week or so.

COME MEET LITTLE "JO"

Delight has had a pretty rough week this week. Wednesday she had to go back to Dallas to have fluid drained from her lung again. They got about the same amount as last time. She had just gotten to the point of not being able to breath very easy. She said that she thought she needed an oxygen bottle. But today she is back at work feeling a 100 times better than any other day this week. She has been down stairs giving a tour to some 3rd graders from Central School!!!!

Blu, Jennifer, Kaylee and little Jo are coming in tonight. Delight is looking forward to seeing them. We are giving little Jo a shower tomorrow. Come on over between 1 & 2 and meet "JO" I'm sure they will be happy to show him off.

GOOD WEEK

Delight is having a pretty good week. Other than not being able to sleep much at night she has felt pretty good. The only thing bothering her this week are her hands and feet. She has been getting up at night and having to take hot baths to help ease the pain. The doctors office told her to be sure and take her pain medicine as often as prescribed. I think that is helping her some.

She started her chemo pills again this week. After she finishes this round of pills she will have some scans and will go and visit with the doctor.

Right now everything is going good!!!

FEELING MUCH BETTER

GOOD NEWS!!! Delight is feeling a lot better today. She was able to come to work today and she looks beautiful!!! She was able to get a good nights sleep last night. Her head isn't near as sore as it has been the past few days.

ZAP ZAP ZAP

The radiation treatment that Delight took on Monday was very hard on her. She was able to come to work yesterday but today she didn't feel like it at all. This morning when I talked to her she said that her head was so sore that she didn't even want to move it. Also she was extremely tired. You know that she didn't feel good if she didn't come to work. Tonya talked to her this afternoon and she said that she felt a little better but her head was still so sore.

Monday they arrived at Presbyterian Hospital shortly after 5:00am. She said that there was one person ahead of her. The shots that they gave her to deaden the pain hurt her so bad that she cried. They screwed 4 screws in head to hold the helmet in place. They left marks on her forehead where they were screwed into the skull. They found one more place on the back of her head when they did the scan. But they were able to zap that place too when they were zapping. She had to wear this helmet from about 7:15 until 1:00. She said that her neck got extremely tired. Peggy was able to come over and visit with her and Terry Joe. Delight was glad that she was able to come and stay with them.

Delight wanted me to THANK everyone for the food that everyone has been bring to them. It was sure helped them out the past couple of weeks. That is one less thing that they have to worry about. If anyone would like to prepare a meal...please contact Tonya at the bank. She is doing a good job of keeping them from getting to much food at one time. THANKS again from The Eidson's.

Blu, Jennifer and Kaylee came in this past weekend and brought little Joe who has now joined their family. Everyone had a big time getting to meet this precious little guy. What a blessing he is going to be to this family. Blayd was happy to have a boy join the family!! I'm sure that will become big buddies. They are almost the same size and almost the same age...only a couple of weeks separate them in age. We are going to give Jennifer a shower March 8. They hope everyone will come and meet Joe.
